Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality:
    Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or disclose manuscript content to unauthorized parties.

  • Objectivity and Fairness:
    Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.

  • Timeliness:
    Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within the specified time frame, typically 3–4 weeks.
    If unable to meet the deadline, please inform the editorial office promptly.

  • Conflict of Interest:
    If a reviewer identifies a potential conflict of interest (personal, professional, or financial) related to the manuscript or its authors, they must recuse themselves immediately.

  • Constructive Feedback:
    Comments should provide clear, specific suggestions to help authors improve their work. Feedback should address originality, methodology, significance, clarity, and relevance.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate submissions based on the following:

  • Originality and contribution to the field

  • Soundness of theoretical and/or empirical methodology

  • Relevance to political science, economics, and management

  • Clarity, structure, and scholarly presentation

  • Compliance with ethical standards

Each review should include:

  • A confidential recommendation to the editor

  • Comments to the author(s) (professional, clear, and constructive)

Use of AI in Peer Review

  • Reviewers must not upload any part of the manuscript (including figures, tables, or text) into generative AI tools or online platforms.

  • AI tools may only be used to enhance the quality of the written feedback (e.g., grammar checking) and must be transparently disclosed if used.

Recognition

PEMR recognizes the invaluable work of our reviewers.
Outstanding reviewers may be acknowledged annually on the journal’s website and invited to join future special issues or editorial activities.
